MUHTAR, NCAA DG BAGS NIGAV AWARD

The Director General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt.Muhtar Usman has bagged 2016 NIGAV Award.
He received Nigerian Aviation Special Achievement Award while the Directorate of Consumer Protection (DCP) of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) was awarded the Best Overall Aviation Customer Service Directorate.
Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, the Director of Consumer Protection (DCP), got the award for the Nigerian Aviation Director of the Year, while Mr. Sam Adurogboye was similarly recognised with Aviation Spokesperson of the Year.
These honours were conferred at the 7th Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV) Award and Exhibition which took place penultimate weekend at the Welcome Centre and Hotels.
At a well attended dinner, there were chief executives and representatives of all the parastatals under the Ministry of Aviation. Others in attendance were major airline operators, members of the League of Aviation and Airport Correspondents (LAAC) and some service providers.
Speaking during the award, the Chief Executive of NIGAV, Mr. Fortune Idu, said the awards which are in different categories will help improve internal motivation, increase positive competition and promote common progress for the sector.
Engr.Olateru Olagbegi, the Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) who represented the Honourable Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika at the event spoke glowingly about the Minister’s passion for the industry while he thanked the organisers.
Alhaji Abdullahi collected the award on behalf of the DG.He commended NIGAV for the laudable and well attended event. According to him, “this award is a challenge to the Regulatory Authority to intensify its regulatory oversight of the industry, this we shall do.”
