Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has expressed willingness to partner and also offer assistance to National Agency for Science & Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) towards achieving Presidential and Ministerial directives on the made-in-Nigeria Helicopters.

The Authority will also provide guidelines to ensure that international standard and recommended practices are maintained.

The Director General of the Authority, Capt. Muhtar Usman gave this assurance when a high-level Management team of NASENI led by its Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Prof. Mohammed Haruna paid a courtesy visit to the Aviation House.

In his response, Professor Haruna stated that, in line with NASENI’s mandate in Aviation and Aeronautical technology and also the Presidential and Ministerial directives to produce made-in-Nigeria helicopters, the Agency reached out to potential partners and manufacturers of helicopters. This effort culminated in finding Dynali Helicopter Manufacturing Company of Belgium as a willing partner to fast-track technology acquisition and domestication.

He however expressed confidence that the current challenge posed to the Agency will be a success story with the support, collaboration of NCAA and other stakeholders.

Earlier, an advance team from NASENI had visited the Authority where a fruitful deliberation to ensure success of the project which has value chain to national development was discussed.

Senior Officials of NCAA with the DG to receive the team include Director of Air Worthiness Standards, Engr. Ita Awak; Director of Consumer Protection, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi; Director of Air Transport Regulation, Group Capt. Edem Ita; Ag. Director of Operations and Training, Capt. Sunday Arome; Head of Aeromedical Standards, Dr. Wilfred Haggai (Representing Director of Licensing); General Manager, Airline Operator Certification and Surveillance, Engr. Godwin Balang; and Ag. Head of Public Relations, Mr. Joe Mohammed Jimoh.

On the side of NASENI are Engr. A.M Adnun, Director of Research; Engr. Dr. S.O Olusunle ; Mr. Nathas Peter Buca; Mr. Olusegun Aye, Mr. Abdul Rasaq Abubakar, Mr. Babajide  Sawyer, Engr. E.A Ajani and Mrs. Binta Abdullahi.

As an agency under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, NASENI sole responsibility is to fast-track home-initiated and home grown industrialization through local machine design and building capabilities.
