Akwuh Suleman Nasir

Engr. Akwuh Suleman Nasir was born on March 21, 1969 in Jos, Plateau State. He hails from Kogi State.  Engr. Akwuh Suleman stands out as an accomplished Technocrat. His aviation sojourn from 2001 to date has been a very eventful and memorable one.

He had his secondary school WAEC/GCE O’Level at the Federal Government College, Ugwolawo in 1983. He proceeded to Federal Polytechnic, Idah for his National Diploma (ND) to study Science Technology in 1985, in 1987 he went to Frunze Higher Technical College of Civil Aviation for Preparatory Language Studies (Kirgizstan), in 1992 he went to Riga Aviation University, formerly known as Riga Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers to obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering Aircraft and Aeroengines Maintenance in LATVIA. He proceeded to Riga Aviation University for his Master of Science in Engineering – Aircraft and Areo Engines Maintenance in the year 1993.

In 2001, he had Certificate in System Safety Course at the University of Southern Califonia. He also had his second Masters of Science in Quality Engineering Management at London South Bank University in 2011.

Engr. Akwuh Suleman has also received various awards amongst which are Bureau for External and Scholarship in 1986, Letter of Appreciation from Federal Ministry of Aviation in 2006.  

In 1987/88 he did his Industrial Training  as Riga undergraduate, in 1992, he work as Line Engineer TU 154, TU-134, from October 1996 to August 1997, he work in Harka Airlines as Airline Engineer. From August 1997 to April 2000 he joined Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria as Instructor. He was employed by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to work as Principal Airworthiness Survey in April 30th 2000. He became Head of Department – Airworthiness Standards, Abuja Regional Office, in April, 2008. Later appointed as Acting Regional Manager, Kaduna Office at Kaduna International Airport. He became Aviation Safety Inspector/Assistant General Manager Air Operator Certification and Surveillance  on 1st of January 2009. He was appointed as Head, Airworthiness Standards, Abuja Regional office from 25th of May 2012.

Engr. Akwuh Suleman attended some notable courses which includes: System Course on A1-24, TV1-17, NK-8 (June, 1992), System Course on TU-154, TU-134, AN-2AN-24, MIL-8 Aircraft (January, 1992), IT8D Manufacturers Course Rega, Latvia (April, 1993), B767 Manufacturers Course, Rega, Latvia (March, 1993), Airworthiness Appreciation Course

Engr. Akwuh Suleman also belongs to many professional bodies: he is a member Royal Aeronautical Society, Council For the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigeria Society of Engineers – Areo Division, Flight Safety Foundation, Member, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Flight Safety Group (February, 2008), Member of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority Safety Verification Team (9th March, 2006), Member of Ministerial Task Force on verification of Airworthiness Status of Aircraft and Operational Competencies of Commercial Aircraft Operators in Nigeria (2005). Engr. Akwuh is also have NCAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License.

He is happily married and blessed with children.
