Nigeria has been re-elected as a Part 2 member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council for another three-year term.  Her re-election took place during the plenary session of the 41st General Assembly of ICAO with no fewer than 2,000 Ministers and other high ranking government officials from 167 States in attendance. The ten-day event held in Montreal, Canada between 27th September and 7th October, 2022 saw Nigeria garnering 149 votes to be elected for the 15th consecutive time. By inference, Engr. Mahmoud Sani Ben Tukur remains the face of Nigeria on the council for another three years.

A rare breed Engr. Isiaka Kayode Ajiboye is a man who cannot be excused from any compendium on distinguished public servants of his time. His intelligence, integrity and industry have been his greatest assets. There is no other quality as essential to success of any kinds as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes anything everything. That sterling quality Engr. Kayode Isiaka Ajiboye Director, Airworthiness Standards (DAWS) sufficiently possesses. He is also an iconic example of a self-made man in the mold of Benjamin Franklin. They set a course for greatness and proceeded to work without rest until their goals became a reality. It was like a hen coming home to roost when on 2nd September, 2020 he was meritoriously appointed as the superintendent of the new-look Directorate of Air Worthiness Standards (DAWS). No other anthem resonates among staffers than it is an appointment well deserved and well earned.

Further to our earlier letter on Quarantine protocol for Nigerian flight crew who operate flights outside the country, we wish to inform you that the Federal Ministry of Health has approved a public health protocol to prevent the spread of the disease by flight crew members.

The Authority has receive request in relation to the impact on calendar time intervals or deferral of calendar time intervals on base scheduled maintenance tasks as a result of aircraft storage or inability to access NCAA Approve Maintenance Organizations caused by the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Federal Government on Monday 27th April 2020 announced the gradual phasing and controlled easing of the country’s lockdown especially in Ogun, Lagos and Abuja from the 4th May 2020. Following this announcement, it is important for the Civil Aviation Authority to start the process of getting the industry ready for an organized, safe, secure and efficient restart of flight operations when the nation’s airspace is reopened for business.

This Advisory Circular (AC) provides guidance to Airlines to operate safely post COVID-19 lockdown. It aims to address the following concerns:
