Age 65 Rule


LIMITATION OF PRIVILEGES OF PILOTS WHO HAVE ATTAINED THEIR 60TH BIRTHDAY AND CURTAILMENT OF PRIVILEGES OF PILOTS WHO HAVE ATTAINED THEIR 65TH BIRTHDAY

  1. No person may serve nor may any AOC holder use a person as a required PIC in single pilot operations on aircraft engaged in commercial air transport operations if that person has reached his or her 60th birthday.
  2.  For aircraft engaged in commercial air transport operations requiring more than one pilot as flight crewmembers, the AOC holder may use one pilot up to age 65 provided that the other pilot is less than age 60.
  3. Check airmen who have reached their 65th birthday or who do not hold an appropriate medical certificate may continue their check airman functions, but may not serve as or occupy the position of a required pilot flight crewmember on an aeroplane engaged in international commercial air transport operations unless the other pilot is less than age 60.
